We're recruiting for a Boar Technician to join a unit in Northumberland, TD12. Our client is a leading player in the UK's agricultural sector, dedicated to integrating traditional farming practices with modern, sustainable methods.

As a Boar Technician, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient collection of semen from boars, following strict animal welfare and hygiene procedures. You will also help move approximately 200 pigs to and from the collection yard as part of the routine schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect semen from boars in accordance with set protocols
  • Assist with preparing and maintaining the collection area
  • Move pigs between housing units and the collection yard (requires physical stamina)
  • Monitor animal behaviour and welfare throughout the process
  • Maintain accurate records of collections and observations
  • Clean and disinfect equipment and work areas to ensure high biosecurity standards
About You
  • Experience working with livestock (pigs preferred but not essential)
  • Confidence working around large animals
  • Good physical fitness - the role involves strenuous manual tasks
  • Ability to follow procedures with attention to detail
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team

Hours
  • Full-time position Monday to Friday
  • 39-hour contract
  • No accommodation, so need to be able to commute to TD12.
