Due to farm expansion and internal progression, we're looking for a
Herd Manager / Second-in-Command (2IC) to join our team.
- The Farm
- 400 Friesian/Jersey-cross cows
- Block-calving, grass-based dairy system
- Youngstock reared on farm
- Located between Dumfries and Thornhill
The Role
Working alongside the Farm Manager, you'll play a key role in
- Delivering excellent animal health and welfare standards
- Achieving key farm performance targets
- Supporting and coordinating the relief team
- Working with stakeholders and contractors
- Making decisions around grassland management and grazing performance
- Helping drive continuous improvement across the farm
What We're Looking For
- You Will
- Have practical experience in grassland management
- Have experience leading or supervising people
- Enjoy working within a block-calving system
- Be passionate about grass-based dairy farming
- Hold a full UK driving licence
- Hold a foot-trimming qualification
