We are looking to recruit a new shop manager for our shop in Hunters Bridge Road, Galashiels. This is a permanent full-time position working a variety of shifts, 5 days per week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Hours: 45 hours across 5 days per week. Pay: £34,262 - £39,889 per annum. Please note that full-time positions require flexibility throughout the week, including weekends.
Key responsibilities
- Lead by example and get involved with the day‑to‑day tasks of running a busy shop.
- Motivate and inspire your team to run an efficient shop and provide great service to customers.
- Responsible for recruitment, induction and ongoing development of your team through coaching, mentoring and feedback.
- Fully accountable for the shop, ensuring customers are looked after, deliveries are worked quickly and shop routines are completed to maintain a safe, clean and tidy shop.
- Control key shop costs including shrinkage, waste and payroll to achieve all KPIs, reporting directly to your area manager.
- Meet standards in customer service, cash handling, health & safety, stock management, merchandising and presentation.
Qualifications and experience
- Friendly, positive, hardworking approach to work.
- Excellent leadership skills to motivate people in a busy, challenging environment.
- People person who builds strong working relationships.
- Trustworthy and reliable; part of a small team, customers will depend on you.
- Experience as a manager or assistant manager.
- Full driving licence is desirable; without a licence but meeting other criteria still welcome.
- Ability to complete an Employment Verification check and a Basic DBS / Disclosure Scotland check if hired.
