We are looking to recruit a full time Transport Manager at our distribution centre in Cumbernauld.
Pay, working hours & benefits:
- Permanent full time position 45 hours per week, any 5 days from 7.
- Salary - £48,310.44
- 30 days annual leave.

As Transport Manager you will lead your team to:
- Monitor all delivery runs, ensuring that drivers are making deliveries on time and communicate with stores regarding any delays.
- Plan loads for the following days’ work, ensuring that your fleet is used as fully and efficiently as possible.
- Address performance issues or training needs.
- Plan, manage and adjust staffing levels to meet operational requirements.
- Have excellent attention to detail with very strong compliance in both running/managing the fleet and tachograph management.
- Accident management and investigation.
- Liaise with the wider team at the depot to ensure that operational requirements are met.
- Issue progress updates to all appropriate persons. Where necessary provide detail regarding usage of kit and confirming that stores have been notified of time changes.
- Providing a safe working environment for all by adhering to H&S procedures and ensuring they are understood and practised by the team.
- Ensuring compliance of Standard Operational Procedures (SOP’s) and ensuring the department continuously achieves a high level of customer focus & service.
You will need:
- To be a good all round communicator with excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Assertiveness, prepared to see through plans and overcome obstacles.
- Managing absence and personnel matters.
- Strong planning and organisational skills.
- A friendly, positive, hard working approach to work.
- Experience of working in a Transport environment.
- Knowledge of UK geography and road network.
- Experience of using a Transport Management System (TMS).
- A proven track record of cost savings, productivity costs, quality control and error reduction.
- Excellent team building, leadership and motivational skills.
- Flexibility to work various shift patterns in response to customer demand.
- A Transport Manager CPC.
- A HGV Licence is desirable not essential.
