We are looking to recruit a new retail assistant for our shop in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. We offer a permanent part‐time position working a variety of shifts, with a minimum of 20 hours over 4 days per week, including weekends. Please note that this position will require availability for weekday evenings and all day Saturday and Sunday. This role may not be suitable if you cannot work at these times.
Hours, Pay & Benefits
- Hours: 20 hours across 4 days per week.
- Pay: £10.95–£12.81 per hour, depending on age:
- Ages 16‑20: £10.95 per hour
- Ages 21+: £12.81 per hour

Responsibilities
- Make customers feel welcome with a friendly smile and simple hello.
- Help customers find items they are looking for.
- Provide fast and friendly service at the tills, offer help to pack, and leave a good impression.
- Handle stock with care while working deliveries; quickly place products into freezers and on shelves.
- Work with team to complete daily and weekly routines that keep the shop safe, clean, and tidy.
Requirements
- Friendly, positive, hard‑working approach to work.
- Enjoy being busy; able to switch between deliveries, till, shop floor, cleaning and stock rotation.
- Reliable; an important part of a small team whose customers depend on you.
- Flexible with shifts; may need to cover other members when on holiday. Rotas are planned three weeks in advance and commitments outside of work are considered.
