We are seeking a reliable and experienced Truck Driver to join our small team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently. The role involves transporting pressurised gas from the Oil well at Kimmeridge Bay Wareham to a gas store near Blandford Forum. It's one trip per day. This is a 365-day operation and we have a team of three drivers to carry out the task, which allows for holiday cover etc. Days of work are flexible to fit in with team members' requirements. Work hours are flexible; however, early starts are advised to ease the journey across narrow roads and holiday traffic. Weekend and bank holiday work can be expected to be worked in rotation with other team members.
Pay is based upon a flat day rate of £120. Expected working hours vary from five to seven hours per shift, depending upon daily circumstances.
Responsibilities:
- Operate a dedicated HGV and trailer on a single route, once per day.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
- Disconnect gas loading pipes prior to journey, and reconnect loading pipework upon return to site.
- Complete appropriate documentation associated with ADR goods.
- Liaise with dispatch office prior to leaving site, and also with the transport manager in the event of unforeseen events.
- Unloading consists of making and disconnecting the pipe connections to the gas store, and then supervising the unloading operation, including monitoring the fill level of the final gas store.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while driving.
Skills:
- Proven experience in commercial driving, with a valid HGV licence.
- Familiarity with 44 Tonne tanker operation.
- Strong driving skills, including the ability to manoeuvre large vehicles in tight spaces and narrow roads.
- Previous experience as an ADR driver is an advantage (training provided if not ADR certified).
- Ability to self-manage; all operations are carried out and managed by the driver operating under self-supervision.
- A commitment to safety and adherence to road regulations at all times.
- Patience with other road users, particularly holiday makers during the holiday season.
