Do you “give a fork” about what you do? Do you love great food? Then this is for you! We’re looking for a solutions-driven People Operations Manager to join the Farmer J FARM-ily! As our new People Operations Manager, you’ll be working closely with the Operations teams to continuously elevate the “people experience” at Farmer J.
You’ll support line managers with employee relations cases, whilst ensuring a fair and consistent approach across the business. You’ll be comfortable coaching managers and delivering hands-on training to upskill line managers on all people-related topics. You’ll be a natural “people person” and able to build strong relationships with store management teams.
As People Operations Manager, you will maintain the balance between upholding employment law and process, whilst remaining commercially focused, and ensuring people processes are operationally efficient. As Farmer J is expanding both in the UK and the US, this role offers the opportunity to help shape how the People function evolves.
What you’ll be doing as our People Operations Manager:
- Provide accurate, high-quality ER advice and follow-up support.
- Build strong, trusted relationships with our store management and operations team to encourage their appetite to seek support and advice on all employee relations matters.
- Continuously improve Farmer J’s people processes to ensure they are operationally efficient and commercially grounded.
- Support and guide the People Administrator with the management of their caseload relating to short-term absence, long-term absence and answering queries and supporting with solutions where possible.
- Provide ER coaching for store management teams, both in-person and remotely.
- Attend stores to provide in-person case management when required.
- Champion initiatives that foster engagement, inclusion, well-being, and belonging.
- Lead “People dashboard” reporting, and Monthly People Reporting, including absence, retention, and engagement data.
- Provide QTRly Leavers reporting, including turnover, and exit interview feedback.
- Continuously review Farmer J’s benefits package, focusing on shop roles.
- Support the People Administrator with weekly and monthly payroll.
- EAP support, and processing and managing of Occupational Health referrals with our providers.
Our new People Operations Manager will have:
- 4 years of experience in a multi-venue business (either in retail or hospitality), as a People Manager, People Advisor, or similar.
- CIPD Level 5 or equivalent degree.
- Experience in managing a broad range of People Operations, including employee relations and payroll.
- A proven track record of managing change in a fast-growing, and complex operation.
- Broad and up-to-date knowledge of HR and employment law.
- Working knowledge of Harri and All Gravy is desirable.
- Commercially orientated and able to weigh up decisions in terms of the cost and benefit to the business.
- Ability to deliver multiple tasks/projects to a consistently high standard.
- Excellent coaching and influencing skills, with the confidence to challenge where needed.
