Farmer J – Management Accountant (Part-qualified)

We’re looking for a detail-oriented part-qualified Management Accountant to join the Finance team at Farmer J.

This is an opportunity to go beyond producing numbers and develop a real understanding of how the business performs.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you'll support the month-end process, working closely with our outsourced finance team, and help deliver reporting that drives better business decisions.

What you’ll be doing as our Management Accountant

  • Support the month-end close process, working closely with the outsourced finance team to ensure reporting deadlines are achieved.
  • Review the monthly management accounts prepared by the outsourced team, developing a thorough understanding of the detail and investigating any variances.
  • Be close to the detail on the balance sheet side as well as the P&L, working with the outsourced team to understand our balance sheet position and present risks & opportunities to the Financial Controller each month.
  • Prepare supporting month-end commentary and analysis for review with the Financial Controller.
  • Work with our Head of Systems and the Financial Controller to ensure the accuracy of the financial information from our 3rd party platforms.
  • Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, controls and reporting efficiency.
  • Prepare weekly trading reports for the wider business, supporting the Financial Controller with automating processes where possible.
  • Support the Financial Controller in improving visibility on department spend and distribution of monthly reporting.
  • Prepare turnover rent reports for landlords.
  • Maintain the property database, ensuring lease information, reporting requirements and key property data remain accurate and up to date.
  • Support Capex reporting and other property-related reporting requirements.
  • Support with collating information for insurance claims and keeping track of outstanding claims.
  • Business partner to the wider business, supporting in bringing visibility to Marketing and Operations.
  • Contribute to finance automation – using AI wherever possible to reduce manual reporting.

Our new Management Accountant will have

  • Part-qualified or studying towards ACA, ACCA, or CIMA, or equivalent finance qualifications.
  • Experience working in Finance in a multi-site hospitality, retail or leisure business.
  • Advanced Excel skills including Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, Macros and VBA Automation.
  • Strong analytical skills and a natural curiosity to understand the story behind the numbers.
  • Skilled in using large data sets and insights to drive improvements, and comfortable with AI adoption.
