Farleigh School is seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate and dedicated 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to work within our vibrant co‑educational prep school, supporting an individual child in Key Stage 1. Farleigh School is committed to providing the very highest standard of teaching and pastoral care to ensure that every child is well looked after, happy and fulfilled. The successful candidate will make a real difference to the child's educational journey by helping them access the curriculum and thrive in a supportive learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist class teacher in the educational and social development of the pupil, under the direction and guidance of the class teacher and Learning Support, where appropriate.
- Build a trusting, supportive relationship with the pupil to promote self‑esteem and resilience.
- Encourage positive peer interactions and inclusion within the classroom and wider school community.
- Implement and adapt strategies from the pupil's Individual Education Plan (IEP).
- Work closely with the class teacher and Learning Support to create a supportive learning environment and provide feedback on pupil's performance.
- Assist class teacher in the implementation of Schemes of Work for the pupil and help monitor their progress.
- Use a range of appropriate strategies so that the pupil can access the curriculum.
- Work with other external professionals as necessary.
- Be familiar with the school's policies and procedures for child protection, countering bullying and health and safety and be aware of the appropriate response needed in these areas.
- Be a good role model to the children.
- Perform or undertake any other key responsibilities, which the Head of Pre‑Prep, Head of Learning Support or class teacher may reasonably assign or be commensurate with the level of responsibility.
Qualifications & Attributes
- A relevant NVQ level 3 qualification or above.
- Commitment to providing the best possible learning experience for the child.
- Experience of supporting children with SEND.
- Enthusiasm about the education of young people.
- Ability to use own initiative and act as a good role model.
- A caring, calm and sensitive approach to the needs of the pupil.
Please note this position is linked to a specific child and its duration will be directly linked to the requirements of the child and direction of the parents. We are seeking an individual to work part‑time, term‑time only to start as soon as possible:
Working Hours
- Monday – 8.30am – 3.30pm
- Tuesday – 8.30am – 12.00pm
- Thursday – 8.30am – 12.00pm
- Friday – 8.30am – 12.00pm
