FAR INSPECTIONS is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders.

Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is crucial.

What is an Occupancy Verification?

The purpose of the property inspection is to verify property occupancy and report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.

Most inspections are exterior only, with about 10% requiring interior photos after the property has gone vacant.

Responsibilities

• Complete most inspections in 5-6 minutes.
• Finish each inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
• Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
• Takes 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
• Complete a short form in an app.
• Drive extended periods of time while making numerous stops during the day in the assigned territory.

Requirements

• Computer with an internet connection.
• Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus; you will pay for your own gas).
• Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
• Printer.
• Pass a standard background check using a valid driver\’s license.

Pay and Hours

This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate. Rates vary based on county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you will earn the equivalent of $30‑$40 per hour.

Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you may complete anywhere from 20‑500 inspections per month working 2‑30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates and higher volume counties have lower rates.

Earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect, or are willing to cover a larger territory.

No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
