We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Environment Co‑ordinator to play a key role in delivering one of the Council’s key corporate priorities. You will lead the development and delivery of a new corporate Environment Strategy. This is a key role at the heart of the Council’s response to driving action on carbon reduction, climate resilience and nature recovery across all Council services and delivering real on-the-ground projects that benefit our communities, environment and local economy.
You will also play a vital role in the development of the Council’s new Local Plan, providing strategic advice to inform Local Plan policy. You will be responsible for preparing, consulting on and finalising the Environment Strategy and associated Delivery Plan. This will build on the progress we’ve made on the implementation of projects designed to reduce the Council’s own carbon emissions, lower the energy bills of tenants, support local wildlife as well as helping our wider community with education and support.
You will provide expertise and professional advice to help the Council and its partners respond effectively to environmental challenges. You will coordinate climate mitigation and adaptation projects, working across multiple themes such as energy, buildings and retrofit, climate adaptation, land use and nature. You will work closely with colleagues, councillors, communities, businesses, organisations and external partners, using evidence, data and analysis to help inform decision making, manage risk and secure funding for climate action.
We are looking for a positive, enthusiastic and proactive environment professional to join our organisation and play a leading role in shaping the action of the Council. You will have experience working within the environmental sector with considerable project delivery experience and a track record of implementing successful environmental programmes. The team culture is that individuals take ownership and responsibility for their workload, so excellent communication skills, initiative and the ability to work under pressure are essential.
