We are looking for someone with a strong customer focus to join the Revenues Team. As a Revenues Officer, you will support the administration, collection and recovery of Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rates, handling customer enquiries in a professional, helpful and efficient manner. This is one of the most technical roles in the Council. Our Revenues Officers are responsible for the collection of over £100 million in Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rates. A key challenge of the role is keeping up to date with ongoing legislative changes that affect how Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rates are calculated, as well as the discounts, reliefs and disregards available. The role involves daily contact with customers, advising them on their entitlements, processing changes in circumstances and supporting them to maintain up-to-date payments.

About You

You will play a full part in a busy team environment, assisting customers in person, by telephone, letter and email. Some of the situations you deal with will be complex and require sound judgement and problem-solving skills. You will need to work to both individual and team targets and deadlines. Accuracy, productivity, strong ICT skills and a commitment to excellent customer service are essential. Full training in Council Tax and/or Non-Domestic Rates legislation will be provided if you have strong experience in administration, customer service and IT.

Our people drive innovation, build strong relationships with our customers, deliver high-quality services and continually seek ways to improve efficiency and performance. At Fareham, we aim to attract, develop and retain talented individuals who can contribute to our success. You will be joining a small, supportive and friendly team within a well-managed Council. We offer a competitive benefits package, including a generous pension scheme, free parking, good annual leave entitlement and a car lease scheme, among many others.
