Farcroft Restorations is looking for an experienced Lime Renderer to join a prestigious restoration project at a listed stately home in South Wales. This is an excellent opportunity to join a minimum two-month restoration project at a prestigious listed stately home in South Wales. Established in 1968, Farcroft Restorations is one of the UK’s leading building and contents restoration specialists. Its skilled teams work on some of the country’s finest buildings, carefully preserving and restoring them to exacting standards.
Role Overview
You will be carrying out external lime rendering as part of the restoration of a listed stately home, working alongside an experienced site team. Due to the historic nature of the property, the work requires a high standard of craftsmanship and an understanding of traditional materials and methods. Previous hands-on lime rendering experience is essential.
Your duties will include:
- Carrying out external lime rendering to a listed historic property
- Preparing backgrounds and surfaces ready for application
- Mixing and applying traditional lime-based renders
- Applying appropriate base, intermediate and finishing coats
- Repairing and making good existing rendered areas
- Working carefully around original and historic building features
- Producing consistent finishes to a high standard
- Following project specifications and site instructions
- Working alongside other restoration trades and site management
- Following all site health and safety procedures
- Keeping work areas clean, organised and safe
About You
We are looking for an experienced renderer who takes pride in producing high-quality work and understands the additional care required when working on historic buildings.
Skills and Experience Required
- Proven professional experience in lime rendering
- Strong experience with external rendering
- Knowledge of traditional lime-based materials and application techniques
- Previous heritage, conservation or listed building experience is highly desirable
- Good surface preparation and finishing skills
- Excellent attention to detail and quality of workmanship
- Able to work independently and as part of a wider site team
- Reliable and professional
- Able to work Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm
