Fane Valley Co-operative is one of the UK and Ireland's leading agri-food businesses, with interests in animal feed manufacturing, agricultural supplies, specialist on-farm technical support services, integrated egg production and processing, integrated duck production and processing, porridge oats and breakfast cereals and the added-value processing of fats and proteins. We now wish to appoint two Health and Safety Officers (one permanent position, one maternity cover position) with a proven ability to work on their own initiative and who can add value to the Health and Safety function within our business. The successful candidates can choose to be based at either our Moira or Omagh sites and will be required to travel to our other sites in Northern Ireland, Donegal and Monaghan.

Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the Health and Safety Officers will be responsible for undertaking duties covering all aspects of Health and Safety in the workplace.

The Role:
  • Contribute to the development of the Company's Health and Safety Management systems across all sites;
  • Conduct and update risk assessments;
  • Ensure that employees and contractors are compliant with all Health and Safety Legislation (NI and ROI);
  • Provide advice on health and safety matters to both managers and employees;
  • Carry out health and safety investigations of accidents and near misses;
  • Preparation of monthly health and safety reports and collating health and safety statistics;
  • Conduct site inspections and provide training to employees;
The Person:
  • Ideally have at least one years' experience in a Health and Safety related role and hold a NEBOSH certificate;
  • A 3rd level qualification in a related discipline is desirable but not essential;
  • Knowledge and preferably experience of Health and Safety management systems including hazard identification, risk management processes and investigations as well as familiarity with NI and ROI Health and Safety legislation would be an advantage;
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills and a strong eye for detail;
  • The ability to work on their own initiative within a dynamic work environment;
  • Excellent analytical skills and a strong eye for detail;
  • A driving licence and access to their own transport.
