About FanDuel Group

FanDuel Group is a world-class team of brands and products that deliver sports betting, gaming and entertainment to millions of US sports fans every day. That’s no easy task, and wouldn’t be possible without a fantastic team who have helped us pioneer new products and innovative features that make us a leader in the industry. Whether you’re looking for better career progression, improved financial security or just a better sense of belonging, we believe we’ve created a culture in which everyone can succeed, no matter how you got here.

The Position

We are looking for people who are passionate about Basketball and who like numbers to put it simply! If you have a high attention to detail, are calm under pressure, are comfortable with numbers and love the NBA then we can teach you the rest. Being able to work in a team, stay organised and keeping our customers front of mind are also valuable skills to have. Prior experience in a similar/higher level role within the industry would also be looked upon as a plus.

Sports Traders at FanDuel are the people behind the odds that our customers bet on. We utilise stats, in-house models, industry news and our opinions to help formulate what we believe are the most accurate odds, and then manage those odds throughout their lifecycle. This includes moving prices when breaking news hits or using our in-house models to move prices live during games. We don’t expect anyone to walk in the door and know everything at the start, so we take our training seriously and make sure that the successful candidate is well supported.

In time, you will be able to compile your own odds on a range of different markets using statistics and trends. For example, helping decide the price on LeBron James to record a triple double. You will monitor our prices and make moves where necessary, taking into consideration things like player news, customer behaviour, industry prices, etc. You will learn how to use our sports models to fluctuate our odds throughout the game depending on what is happening in that game at the time. Collaborate with various teams around the business to manage things like our liabilities, our onsite display and ensuring we remain compliant across our different jurisdictions. Our customers are the most important thing to us, so coming up with new markets for them to bet on, settling their bets in a timely manner and all aspects of their experience are going to be important part of this role for you. Crunch numbers to identify trends and then make changes off the back of your findings. Responsibility for the commercial ownership of a selected number of Sports from the following list, including but not limited to: Soccer, Tennis, Golf, UFC/Boxing, European Basketball, European Ice Hockey, Table Tennis & Motorsport.

What We’re Looking For

  • In-depth knowledge of NBA, knowledge around other US Sports is helpful too.
  • Ability to do basic and mental math problems under time pressure.
  • It’s important to understand how odds relate to probability (%), and how betting markets work but you do not have to bet yourself.
  • Customer focused – thinks about customers 24/7 and creates processes, solutions etc. which tangibly improve customer experience.
  • Attention to detail – can spot anomalies in large quantities of data and has the focus to constantly improve the finer details.
  • Effective Collaborator - works with others within the team and the wider organisation, whilst communicating effectively across a range of channels and audiences.
  • Ability to work at pace, on own initiative and learn as they go.
  • Makes quality decisions – makes confident decisions under pressure.
  • Problem solver – ability to use what little details may be available to produce concise steps towards incident resolution.
  • Ability to see problems before they become impactful.
  • Strong written, verbal communication and research skills are a must.
  • Experience or knowledge of Excel is helpful not a necessity.
  • Happy to work at times outside of normal business hours including weekends.
  • Happy to study the NBA every day!
