You'll work on systems enabling critical capabilities such as real-time customer communications, personalized promotions, and targeted campaign delivery.

Your work will focus on designing highly scalable, event-driven systems that process large volumes of real-time data, delivering intelligent insights to marketing partners. You'll help enable data-driven, personalized experiences for millions of customers across our platform. You'll work within a modern microservices and event-driven architecture, building Martech solutions enhanced by AI to drive customer engagement and retention.

Responsibilities include:

  • Make existing systems simpler (e.g. by consolidating redundant systems, deleting unnecessary code, or removing/updating out of date documentation).
  • Solve well-defined problems independently, knowing when to seek input or guidance from the wider team.
  • Translate technical designs into clean, well-tested code using appropriate technologies and current software engineering best practices, delivered on schedule.
  • Write secure, stable, testable, maintainable code with minimal defects.
  • Contribute to team discussion on technical design, scoping and prioritisation.
  • Collaborate effectively across the team, surfacing risks and opportunities that arise from technical decisions.
  • Propose pragmatic solutions and share knowledge and learnings with the wider team.
  • Own parts of product and technology & strive to become a subject matter expert.
  • Write simple and extendable code following standards and best practices.
  • Help your team evolve by actively participating in the code review process, design discussions, team planning, and support ticket reviews.
  • Clearly document your software to ensure that future generations of developers understand the intention behind the features and components you build.
  • Troubleshoot and identify swift resolutions in the event of a problem.
  • Provide excellent customer support.
  • Estimate stories/tasks and deliver them on time.
  • Be humble, pragmatic, self-managed, thirsty for knowledge, never satisfied and always challenging the norm.
  • Participate in the on-call support rotation for your organization.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Degree in Computer Science or related software engineering field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong backend experience with Java.
  • Understanding of AWS as well as DevOps concepts such as IaC (we use Terraform).
  • Some experience with event streaming technologies such as SNS/SQS or Kafka.
  • Good grasp on relational, non-relational databases, messaging queues and handling concurrency.
  • Understanding of modern architectures, design patterns, and platform nuances.
  • Appreciation of orchestration and containerisation, ideally Kubernetes (K8s).
  • Experience working with cloud-based infrastructure and technologies.
  • Experience with testing concepts, test tools, and integrating testing and best practices in the SDLC.
  • Familiarity working in an Agile environment.
  • Passion for working within a fast-paced environment and can adapt to change.

What You Can Expect:

  • Interesting work - working in a fast-paced and ever-changing industry, new problems and exciting solutions are never too far away.
  • A sense of achievement - Our teams own their own software and when that awesome new feature ships to users and the positive feedback starts rolling in, you can feel really proud of what you and your team created.

  • Belonging - everyone at FanDuel works for each other, we win together, make mistakes together and have lots of fun doing it.

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines.
