Our roster has an opening with your name on it. As a Software Engineering Director for our Sportsbook Core Apps Enablement group, you'll be at the forefront of empowering our delivery teams to provide exceptional customer experiences at speed. You'll manage and mentor multiple engineering teams responsible for building the foundational capabilities, tools, and services that enable our mobile and front-end applications to thrive. Your mission is to ensure our application platforms and backend-for-frontend (BFF) services have the right capabilities, infrastructure, and developer experience to support rapid, high-quality feature delivery.
You'll work closely with engineers on a day-to-day basis, supporting them as they solve complex technical challenges around platform capabilities, developer tooling, and enabling services. You'll help find opportunities focused on providing the best employee experience while balancing delivery of capabilities that work at scale. You'll own your software, helping define solutions to problems while mitigating long-term risks. You'll raise and help mitigate blockers while providing status updates to leadership.
THE GAME PLAN
- Manage multiple software development teams with focus on Product Engineering teams as your customers to ensure they have the tools, services, and capabilities to move fast without friction.
- Produce and deliver a strategic, technical vision for Core Apps Enablement, identifying gaps in existing capabilities and negotiating ownership across mobile, BFF, and enabling service domains.
- Work with technical experts across mobile (iOS, Android, Web), BFF services, and with our platform engineering teams to identify opportunities for reusable technology that secure our competitive advantage.
- Define and drive the enablement roadmap for foundational services that successful engineering delivery is built upon.
- Proactively identify technology gaps and opportunities in the enablement space, mitigate risks created through technical complexity, and ensure BFF services are designed for scale, reliability, and developer productivity.
- Ensure the right people are in the right job through creating leadership opportunities, hiring, performance management, and leading with empathy.
- Partner with Product Engineering leadership, platform teams, and product stakeholders to understand their needs and build balanced backlogs and roadmaps that prioritise high-impact enablement capabilities.
- Advocate, own and drive predictability through Operational Excellence and transparency through data and KPIs - measuring both platform reliability and developer productivity metrics.
- Ensure effective operational support for all enablement services in conjunction with IT Operations support organisation, treating platform downtime with the same urgency as customer-facing issues.
- Liaise with partners and regulatory bodies to establish and follow an effective release process, particularly for mobile app releases and backend service deployments.
- Deliver architecturally sound solutions for complex enablement challenges, balancing build vs. buy decisions and ensuring platform services are designed for multi-year horizons.
- Communicate and drive strategic initiatives (3–5-year horizons) around mobile platform evolution, BFF architecture patterns, and enabling service capabilities.
- Exhibit best behaviour and exemplify our company principles, fostering a culture of enablement, and collaboration.
- Be responsible for expenditure and ensure you spend money effectively, recognising areas of savings or waste in tooling, infrastructure, and vendor services.
