Senior Product Developer

Overview

The Senior Product Developer is responsible for setting priorities for an assigned category, overseeing the development process from first prototype to bulk production-ready status. Coordinate with US teams to monitor development, approvals, and production-ready status from concept through commercialization. Ensure cross-functional alignment, calendar adherence, and monitoring of quality standards and financial targets. Analyse progress and present corrective action plans to fix items at risk of missing deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Product Development calendar timelines and guide cross-functional decision making (Design, Art, Merch, Sourcing, Material Team, PCC).
  • Develop material strategy for Protos and SMS with Materials team & PCC.
  • Create BOMs, complete Tech Packs, and post them to the designated database.
  • Communicate with PCC on discrepancies and keep the PD tracker updated.
  • Partner with Design as the technical lead, attending meetings and ensuring design feasibility while meeting margin and pre-costing requirements.
  • Mentor Associate Technical Designer and ensure proper onboarding and tools.
  • Collaborate with Sourcing on costing approvals, factory allocation, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Work with PCC and cross-functional partners to test development and address quality risks through the full design-to-commercialization process.
  • Monitor prototypes and samples to ensure timely delivery; coordinate corrective actions for delays or licensing roadblocks.
  • Drive SMS Buy Ready with partners to meet on-time go-to-market and production readiness.
  • Prepare for seasonal milestones (Proto/Costing Review, Line Freeze, TP Strategy) and ensure inputs are prepared.
  • Attend fit meetings and ensure consistency across collections in line with global standards.
  • Anticipate downstream impacts of changes and provide solution-oriented support to partners.

Production Ready

  • Ensure data points (Tracker, PLM, Box) are available and updated for PCC to commercialize across leagues/teams.
  • Monitor and audit color consistency on PLM.
  • Prepare licensing samples for approval and audit against approved tech packs.
  • Offer alternative options to keep buy-ready on track when risks arise.

Daily Activities

  • Maintain WIP, tracking, PD records, data input, and parcel coordination.
  • Facilitate timely communication between US offices and PCC.
  • Compile weekly metrics and analyses to support PD KPIs.
  • Identify process improvements to increase speed, efficiency, and quality in collaboration with leadership.
  • Input report card metrics for on-time sample performance and coordinate with PCC on action plans.
  • Lead onboarding and training for new team members and maintain SOP documentation as a subject-matter expert.

What You Bring To The Team

  • Bachelor\’s degree in Product Development or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in sportswear development and management
  • Technical knowledge of fabric, trim, construction, and product engineering
  • Experience with a US global company and international factories
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and mentoring skills
  • Proficiency in PLM, databases, and MS Office; advanced Excel; 3D development experience is preferred
  • Detail-oriented, able to multitask, and punctual with deadlines
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively
  • Ability to translate market designs into cost-effective garments while preserving quality
