Fanatics Betting & Gaming (FBG) is seeking a Level 3 Platform Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team. This role sits within our Platform & Architecture group, focusing on infrastructure and deployment capabilities that support our product and engineering teams. As a Level 3 Platform Engineer, you will work on cloud infrastructure, release pipelines, and deployment systems that enable faster delivery. You’ll own specific platform components, maintain reliable systems, and contribute to the engineering practices of the team through code quality and knowledge sharing.

What You’ll Do

  • Deliver platform projects independently: translate requirements into executable tasks for features or components within our infrastructure and deployment systems with sprint-level guidance.
  • Maintain multi-component systems: own the operational health of platform services, leading incident response and driving root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues.
  • Contribute to technical design: help design small features or components with support from senior engineers, considering tradeoffs between simplicity, performance, and scalability.
  • Write clean, maintainable code: deliver reliable, well-tested code for non-trivial systems and suggest modest improvements to existing patterns.
  • Model good engineering practices: informally guide junior engineers, sharing what you’ve learned through code reviews and hands-on collaboration.
  • Communicate clearly: explain technical work, tradeoffs, and risks to your team in ways that help them make informed decisions.

What You Bring

  • 3–5 years of software engineering experience, with exposure to platforms, infrastructure, or backend systems.
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD concepts and hands-on experience implementing or improving pipelines.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Comfort writing production code in at least one backend language (Python, Go, Java, or similar).
  • Experience writing robust tests and anticipating edge cases.
  • Ability to debug systems, read logs, and diagnose operational issues.
  • Clear communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with your team.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with observability, monitoring, and reliability engineering practices.
  • Familiarity with distributed systems and high-availability architecture.
  • Experience responding to incidents and conducting root cause analysis.
  • Background supporting or improving platform or infrastructure projects.
