Role Overview

The Climate Manager will serve as the subject-matter expert on climate impact measurement, strategy and solutions within Fanatics, with a particular emphasis on regulatory disclosure preparation. This role will lead climate impact measurement activities, including corporate greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories, and analyze the resulting value chain impact data to develop a decarbonization strategy for the business. The role will also oversee climate risk assessment and reporting. In collaboration with partners, the Manager will help to identify and prioritize climate solutions, develop initiatives for the Environmental Sustainability team, and track progress toward climate targets.

The Climate Manager will report to the Sustainability Director, Environment & Data.

how you will make an impact:

  • Lead annual, enterprise-wide GHG inventories aligned to the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard for Scopes 1, 2 and 3
  • Collaborate with data owners to develop and oversee both an inventory management plan and an inventory quality improvement plan
  • Lead regulatory compliance efforts related to climate risk, impact, governance and action public disclosures
  • Develop and execute LCA-based methodologies for more precise tracking of product-based emissions over time
  • Analyze value chain emissions data to develop strategic plans for emissions reduction
  • Oversee the development and tracking of science-based targets
  • Lead the identification, assessment and prioritization of climate solutions across diverse value chain verticals (product & materials, manufacturing, operations & logistics, etc.)
  • Lead efforts for climate scenario analysis and develop an enterprise climate transition plan
  • Collaborate with Environment program leads and cross-functional partners to develop and consult on a portfolio of projects based on identified solutions
  • Identify and implement technology solutions for GHG emissions inventory management
  • Support regular reporting to internal and external audiences
  • Contribute to the annual development of Fanatics\' environmental sustainability strategy

what you bring to the team:

  • A passion and commitment to sustainable business practices
  • 8+ years of experience within corporate sustainability, climate science, climate action or a related field
  • Bachelor\'s or Graduate degree (or equivalent experience) in environmental science, environmental studies, business/finance, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of climate-related regulatory requirements, including EU CSRD, CA SB 253/261/219 and the SEC Climate Disclosure Rule
  • Strong knowledge of GHG Protocol standards, Science-Based Targets Initiative criteria & guidance, and life cycle assessment methodologies
  • Knowledge of apparel industry-specific measurement tools, e.g., the Higg Facility & Product tools
  • Knowledge of voluntary climate disclosure frameworks, including CDP
  • Experience with quantitative/financial modeling, including cost-benefit analysis and scenario analysis
  • Familiarity with apparel manufacturing processes and consumer products value chains preferred
  • Knowledge of major relevant decarbonization solutions and opportunities, preferably specific to apparel/consumer goods companies
  • Knowledge of financing and incentive mechanisms for decarbonization, particularly related to the United States and Europe
  • Experience with corporate climate target setting, tracking, and action
  • Ability to translate complex concepts into defined objectives for internal engagement and communication
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and work with cross-functional teams
  • Experience working within a global team
  • Ability and willingness to undertake diverse projects
  • Ability and willingness to work across global time zones that may necessitate flexible work hours
  • Strong command of the English language
