About the role
Fanalysis is looking for a Community & Moderation Specialist to help support a safe, high-quality fan experience during the World Cup. This is a full-time contractor role for 6-8 weeks, focused specifically on World Cup coverage. You will help moderate live football discussion, review user-generated content, identify moderation errors, support appeals handling, and help ensure fans can engage in passionate football debate without crossing the line into abuse, harassment, hate, threats, spam, or other harmful behaviour. This role sits at the intersection of content moderation, Trust & Safety operations, community support, and moderation quality analysis. You do not need to be an expert in a specific domestic league, but you should be enthusiastic about football, understand the intensity of live match discussion, and be comfortable applying policy consistently in a fast-moving environment. For EU and UK-based applicants, this role may involve night shift coverage due to World Cup match timings.
Role type: Full-time contractor
Focus: World Cup moderation coverage
Language requirement: French required; good level of English required
Working pattern: May include evenings, weekends, and night shifts depending on match schedule and coverage needs
Location: Remote / hybrid
What you'll do
- Moderate text and image content across the Fanalysis platform during World Cup coverage, ensuring decisions are accurate, consistent, and aligned with internal policy and community standards.
- Review tickets entering the moderation queue and take appropriate action in line with Fanalysis' Code of Conduct and moderation guidelines.
- Apply sound judgement when reviewing football-related content, distinguishing between passionate football criticism, rivalry, humour, and genuine abuse or harmful behaviour.
- Identify and track false positives and false negatives, helping Fanalysis understand where moderation systems may be over-enforcing or under-enforcing.
- Conduct root cause analysis on moderation errors, identifying whether issues are caused by policy gaps, blocklists, AI moderation behaviour, missing context, unclear guidance, or other operational factors.
- Maintain accurate moderation logs and tracking sheets, including content outcomes, false positive/false negative details, RCA notes, and escalation information.
- Review user appeals and draft clear, professional email responses explaining appeal outcomes in line with internal templates and tone of voice.
- Track appeal outcomes and case details accurately in internal spreadsheets.
- Escalate urgent, high-risk, or unclear cases where required, including threats, hate speech, underage concerns, serious harassment, or platform safety risks.
- Help identify trends, repeated edge cases, match-related spikes, or emerging abuse patterns during World Cup fixtures.
- Support end-of-shift handovers by clearly documenting queue status, unresolved cases, escalations, appeal updates, and notable trends.
About You
You are fluent in French, with a good level of written and verbal English, and comfortable working full time for a 6–8 week contractor period during World Cup coverage. The role may include evenings, weekends and night shifts depending on match timings and coverage needs. You have experience in content moderation, Trust & Safety, community operations, customer support, QA, policy enforcement, or a similar role. You are confident applying policy consistently, making judgement calls in a fast-moving environment, escalating when unsure, and documenting decisions clearly. You understand football culture and the intensity of live match discussion, with the ability to distinguish passionate debate, rivalry and humour from abuse, harassment, hate speech, threats, spam or other harmful behaviour. You are comfortable working with spreadsheets, maintaining accurate case records, tracking outcomes, and communicating professionally when responding to user appeals or complaints. Experience reviewing French-language content, moderating sports or live-event platforms, working with AI-assisted moderation systems, handling appeals, or supporting QA/RCA workflows would be beneficial. Previous night shift, live operations or event coverage experience would also be helpful.
