About the role:
We are recruiting for a Residential Childcare Team Leader to contribute to the development of the Family Care Group residential service in a manner that maximises the life chances of the children that are looked after and ensures safe practice. You will lead in the management of the establishment and help maintain an environment in which children and young people are valued, listened to, and enabled to develop their potential.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with all duties in connection with the safe day-to-day running of the home as instructed by the Head of Residential.
- Work with the staff team to implement Family Care Group policies and ensure the highest quality of care is delivered to the children within our care.
- Comply with the published policies and procedures of the Family Care Group.
- Uphold the Company’s commitment to the safeguarding of children and young people and report any areas of concern immediately.
- Prepare and operate a rota system that ensures suitable levels of safety, security, and care for the children.
- Lead, supervise, and motivate your team to deliver high-quality care.
- Support care planning for children by attending relevant meetings, maintaining records, and completing assigned tasks.
- Participate in supervision, appraisal, and training to support your professional development.
- Promote a high standard of living for children, respecting their individual needs and backgrounds.
- Maintain effective communication with colleagues, external agencies, and families (as per care plans).
- Keep accurate records and manage delegated budgets with transparency.
- Respect confidentiality and follow all company policies, safety regulations, and statutory requirements.
- Report absences promptly and declare any potential conflicts of interest.
What we need from you:
- NVQ 3 in Children and Young People’s Workforce or equivalent.
- 1 year working in a children’s residential setting.
- Commitment to equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice.
- Full driving licence.
- Ability to understand and work in partnership in the best interests of children.
- Ability to deputise for the Registered Manager.
- Knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and associated Regulations and Guidance.
