We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to support the leadership of our children’s residential home in Formby, providing high-quality care for young people with learning disabilities.

About the role
In this role, you will support the Registered Manager to ensure the home consistently meets regulatory standards while providing safe, nurturing, and person‑centred care. You will play a key role in leading, motivating, and developing the staff team, with a strong focus on achieving positive outcomes for children and young people. Working within the home’s therapeutic model, you will collaborate closely with in‑house practitioners to ensure each young person receives consistent, tailored support that enables meaningful and lasting progress.
Key responsibilities
- Support day‑to‑day management of the home
- Lead and supervise staff, including training and performance support
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding and Ofsted standards
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and therapeutic environment
- Contribute to care planning and risk management
- Deliver on‑call support on a rota basis
What we are looking for
- Must have Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare is desirable but not essential (willing to work towards)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a children’s residential setting, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or senior role
- Be able to work on a Shift/Rota basis (including weekends) and undertake sleep‑ins
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child development, and relevant legislation (Children’s Homes Regulations, Ofsted framework)
- Ability to lead a team with empathy, professionalism, and integrity
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem‑solving skills
- Full UK Driving Licence essential
- Enhanced DBS compliance required
