Overview
Join Our Team as an Independent Assessing Social Worker. This is a self-employed, home-based role with a rewarding compensation of £2,300 per completed assessment. Based in North-West, you will guide prospective foster carers through the assessment journey and present your assessments to the Family Care Fostering Panel.
Role location: remote, with visits to applicants as part of the assessment process.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments using the fostering competency-based assessment format to evaluate applicants\’ suitability for becoming approved foster carers.
- Conduct a minimum of eight home visits with applicants and visit key references (family members, birth children, former partners) as part of the assessment.
- Prepare detailed reports covering applicants’ skills, health and safety considerations, pet and finance evaluations, and any specialized reports as needed.
- Present completed assessments to the Family Care Fostering Panel in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
- Collaborate with Family Care Supervising Social Workers to ensure a smooth transition after panel approval.
- Maintain accurate, confidential records in line with statutory requirements.
- Coordinate visits with applicants, referees, and agency contacts; communicate any scheduling adjustments to management.
- Complete assessments within agreed timelines and report delays promptly to the Registered Manager.
- Adhere to health, safety and confidentiality policies to ensure a secure and respectful work environment.
Qualifications
- Essential Requirements: Full, clean driving licence; Social Work England registration; willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
- Experience: Prior experience in fostering assessments is essential.
