We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and caring Early Years Practitioners to join our Cardiff Bank Team, supporting our nurseries as and when required. This is an ideal opportunity for qualified and unqualified practitioners who are looking for flexible work, variety across settings, and the chance to make a real difference to children’s lives without the commitment of a permanent contract. As a bank practitioner, you may work across different nurseries within your region, providing vital support during periods of increased demand, staff absence, or special events.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide high‑quality care, learning, and play experiences in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
  • Support children’s learning, development, and wellbeing in a safe, nurturing environment
  • Build positive relationships with children, colleagues, and families
  • Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and nursery policies at all times
  • Work collaboratively with permanent staff to maintain continuity of care
  • Adapt quickly to different nursery environments and routines
  • Support inclusive practice, ensuring every child feels valued and supported
  • Carry out daily care routines, including meals, hygiene, and sleep routines as appropriate

What we’re looking for

Essential

  • A genuine passion for working with young children
  • A caring, reliable, and flexible approach
  • Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities in an early years setting
  • Ability to work across multiple sites within your region
  • Willingness to undertake required pre‑employment checks (including DBS)

Desirable

  • Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Childcare / Early Years (or working towards)
  • Experience working in a nursery or early years setting
  • Knowledge of the EYFS framework
  • First Aid and Safeguarding training (or willingness to complete)
