We are supporting a well-established charity with strong UK and international operations, including subsidiaries in Israel, in the search for a Group Financial Controller. This is a pivotal leadership role within the Finance function, reporting directly to the Finance Director. A key part of this role involves supporting the Charity’s wider mission and its work connected to Israel, ensuring high-quality financial oversight and reporting across the Group. The role offers generous holidays alongside other benefits. Off street parking available.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts for the Charity Group, including consolidation across UK and Israeli subsidiaries using Xero.
- Oversee Group budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis across all entities.
- Prepare and review statutory accounts and manage the full year-end audit process.
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts, including intercompany balances and restricted funds.
- Ensure robust financial controls, policies, and procedures are in place and consistently applied.
- Produce accurate and timely financial reporting, including monthly management accounts and board-level analysis.
- Manage cash flow forecasting, treasury processes, and foreign exchange requirements.
- Act as key contact for auditors, banks, regulators, and external stakeholders.
- Oversee payroll liaison, VAT returns, and regulatory submissions.
- Support system integrity and reporting across Xero, fundraising databases, and internal systems.
- Manage and develop the Finance Officer, providing guidance and leadership.
- Support compliance with Charity Commission, HMRC, Companies House, and other regulatory bodies.
- Provide financial insight and analysis to senior leadership and trustees to support strategic decision-making.
Candidate Requirements
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
- Experience working within the charity sector is essential.
- Strong experience preparing Group management accounts and statutory accounts.
- Proven track record of budgeting, forecasting, and year-end audit management.
- Excellent knowledge of charity accounting regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strong working knowledge of Xero is essential.
