We are seeking Specialist Mentors to support the academic progress of students at both Falmouth University and University of Exeter (Cornwall campuses). This role involves providing mentoring to students with various and sometimes complex conditions including Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD and mental health conditions. As part of this role, you will build professional working relationships with a caseload of students combining a person‑centred approach with an understanding of the student’s condition, to support them with their academic progress.

An important additional aspect of the work is efficient use of CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems to communicate, book appointments and record sessions with students.

As well as experience in working professionally with adults or young people in a supportive role, you meet the requirements stipulated in the “DfE Mandatory Criteria” for Specialist Mentors (document available to download from Mandatory Qualifications). We are particularly interested in hearing from Mentors who have worked in a university setting. You will be a confident and competent IT user with experience of using CRMs and applications such as Microsoft Office. You will also have a good knowledge of using and incorporating Assistive Technology (AT) within the mentoring session.

This role is campus‑based, but you may be required to work with students online when this is their preference. This post is offered on a casual hourly paid basis, but we are particularly interested in hearing from people who could offer a minimum of 10 to 12 contact hours per week during term time.

For more information about the role, please contact NMHSupport@fxplus.ac.uk. The closing date for this position is Sunday 28 June 2026. Interviews are due to take place week commencing 20 July 2026.
