We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Fashion & Textiles team at Falmouth University as an Out of Hours Assistant. This role plays an important part in ensuring our facilities remain safe, welcoming, and well managed during evenings and weekends.
Your main duties and responsibilities will include:
- Safety & Building Checks
- Carry out routine safety checks throughout the building, ensuring fire exits, evacuation routes, and communal areas remain unobstructed.
- Follow building closing procedures and ensure all external doors and windows are secured, reporting any faults.
- Access & Security
- Monitor building access points, ensuring only authorised individuals enter.
- Check ID cards or visitor passes and provide directions where needed.
- Customer Support
- Provide polite, helpful assistance to staff, students, and visitors.
- Offer guidance on permitted areas of use and highlight relevant building rules.
- Reporting & Communication
- Act as the first point of contact for urgent queries, escalating incidents or emergencies to the appropriate staff member.
- Maintain a log of building checks and report access or maintenance issues to the Technical & Facilities Manager or Safety & Support team.
- Manage lost property found during checks, following proper procedures.
- Additional Duties
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested.
- Become trained in, and maintain, a First Aid at Work qualification.
The successful candidate will be customer focused, professional, reliable, dedicated, trustworthy and able to work independently once trained. You should be organised, proactive, and confident in dealing with a wide range of people.
We are looking for candidates who also have the following skills/experience:
- Excellent communication skills with a friendly and approachable manner
- Excellent customer service skills/experience
- An honest, dedicated, and hardworking approach
- A First Aid certificate or willingness to undertake first aid training
Full training will be provided for the successful candidate.
This is a casual, hourly paid role during term time only (October to May), Tuesday to Friday (between 5.00pm - 8.00 pm) as well as some Saturdays (between 10am-4pm).
