We are seeking an Estates Compliance Engineer to join our Estates Service team, reporting to the Engineering Maintenance Manager. This is a hands‑on role focused on ensuring that estates maintenance, infrastructure, and project work across our Cornwall campuses are delivered safely, effectively, and in full compliance with legislative, regulatory, and internal standards. The role blends technical assurance, compliance oversight, and on‑site engagement, working closely with in‑house maintenance teams, contractors, and project stakeholders. You’ll play a key part in ensuring standards are clearly understood, consistently applied, and continuously improved. This role offers a rare opportunity to genuinely influence how compliance is delivered across a complex and diverse estate. Rather than simply maintaining existing systems, you’ll have the autonomy to shape standards, challenge delivery approaches, and drive meaningful improvements. It's an exciting time to join FX Plus, as our university partners continue to move ahead with ambitious growth plans. This role is ideal for someone looking to broaden their experience, providing the opportunity to build technical and compliance leadership skills.
You will have a strong technical background in engineering or estates, with experience of working in a compliance, assurance or maintenance environment. You will be comfortable operating both on site and within a structured compliance framework, with the confidence to challenge where standards are not met. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
- A technical qualification (minimum HNC or equivalent) in engineering or building services.
- Good working knowledge of statutory compliance relating to estates and engineering systems with the ability to apply this in a practical environment.
- Experience working with contractors and managing service delivery performance.
- Experience of inspecting works, reviewing RAMS and working with contractors to ensure safe and compliant delivery.
- Strong organisational and record‑keeping capability within a compliance environment.
This post is offered on a 37.5 hour a week, full time, permanent contract working across Monday‑Friday. The closing date for the position is Wednesday 20 May 2026.
As an employer of choice we can offer the successful candidate for this role a range of benefits, including:
- Employer Pension Contribution up to 10%.
- 28 days + 8 days bank holiday.
- Life Assurance.
- Subsidised Sports Centre Membership (Gym).
