JOB GOAL: The Summer Learning Program will provide students with learning opportunities that will lead to deeper learning of the skills each student needs to learn. Utilizing data, the summer teaching staff will create individualized learning plans in the areas needing remediation. The summer staff will focus on content learning, increasing students' self-efficacy for students to develop key competencies and skills. Students will be able to apply knowledge learned and engage in work that matters to them. Teachers will utilize high-leverage practices that support deeper learning in the needed areas.

Qualifications:

  • Massachusetts Licensure
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher
  • Knowledge and understanding of second language acquisition or SEI Endorsement
  • Ability to relate/communicate effectively with teachers, students, parents, and administrators
  • Successful experience teaching students with various abilities, interests, and needs
  • Applicants must commit to being present for each day of the program

Responsibilities:

  • Parent communication and outreach
  • Track student work and progress to provide Progress Reports & Final Grades
  • Scheduling Communication with the Coordinator and Counselors about student progress
  • Utilize content-level work focused on skills (supported by data) needing remediation for credit recovery
  • Insure "mid-summer" report is reviewed with students and caregivers
  • Fulfill such other responsibilities as may from time to time be required

Duration: FHS Summer Learning Program will run from July 28 - August 14, Monday - Thursday, 7:30 - 12:30. There will be one day added for planning. Total of 13 days.

SALARY: $45 an hour (total max for 13 days: $2,925)
