Posting of Vacancy: Special Education 1:1 Aide for Individual Student at Teaticket School for the 2024-2025 school year. Year to Year Position (as needed). Additional before and after school hours available as Aide on Bus or for Sports & Extracurriculars.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Post-secondary education preferred with a background in medical/special education.
  • Experience working with special needs children preferred.
  • Safety Care, CPR and first aid training preferred or willing to train.
  • Ability to take direction from and work under the supervision of one or more teachers.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable (may require LPN certification depending on student needs).

Responsibilities:

  • Work with students as assigned by the teacher.
  • Willingness to be trained in specific behavioural techniques.
  • Awareness of medical concerns: allergies, seizures, etc. and student assistance protocol.
  • Accompany students to designated areas and classes as directed and assist student with class work.
  • Attend in-service training sessions that pertain to special education.
  • Perform such other tasks as may be assigned from time to time by the classroom teacher and/or the Principal.

Salary: In accordance with non-union contract.
