Qualifications

  • Massachusetts Licensure as an elementary music teacher
  • SEI endorsement preferred
  • Bachelor\’s degree or higher required with concentration in Music Education
  • Successful experience as a general music teacher at the elementary level
  • Proficient music technology, piano/keyboard, and vocal/singing skills
  • Proficient classroom management skills
  • Familiarity with rubrics and assessment strategies
  • Such other alternatives as the Superintendent of Schools may deem acceptable and appropriate

Responsibilities

  • Instruct students in general music
  • Implement a variety of teaching techniques to ensure student achievement and engagement incorporating a variety of methods such as Conversational Solfege, Orff, and Kodály
  • Develop and implement curriculum objectives based on the learning standards of the Music curriculum and State frameworks
  • Cooperate with teachers in other discipline areas to develop a positive and inclusive school-wide culture
  • Evaluate classroom activities on a regular basis in respect to district/departmental goals
  • Maintain all attendance and grade records
  • Accept supervision and guidance from the Fine Arts Department Head and Principal
  • Continue to grow in the position through attendance at meetings, conferences, seminars, through readings in professional literature and through enrollment in college or university courses
  • Such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by the Principal, Department Head and/or Assistant Superintendent

SALARY: In accordance with FEA Unit A contract
