Are you passionate about improving the postgraduate research experience in Cornwall? We're looking for a University of Exeter postgraduate research student to become our Cornwall PGR Advocate for the 2026/27 academic year.

In this new student leadership role, you'll work to ensure PGR experiences, priorities, and challenges are considered within Students' Union and University decision-making structures. You'll contribute to meetings, discussions, and projects that shape the postgraduate research experience, while supporting student-led initiatives, encouraging engagement, and helping to deliver positive change for Cornwall's research community. You'll also play a key role in building a connected and inclusive PGR community by creating opportunities for postgraduate researchers to network, collaborate, share experiences, and feel a stronger sense of belonging.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your leadership, communication, advocacy, community-building, and project management skills while making a meaningful difference to the Cornwall PGR community.

This post is a fixed-term position working 76 hours across the academic year (from start date until 31 July 2027). For this role the successful candidate will be primarily based at the Penryn campus, required to join online meetings, and work across Truro and Falmouth campuses, and other community locations. Working hours and patterns will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate.

The 76 hours are based on the required attendance and preparation time for essential meetings and training. A breakdown of the required time can be found below:

Eligibility: Applicants must be current University of Exeter postgraduate research students based in Cornwall, eligible to work in the UK, and able to undertake the role alongside their studies throughout the 2026/27 academic year (1 August 2026 to 31 July 2027).
