We are seeking an experienced Duty Manager to lead the operational delivery of night-time safety and security services across our Penryn and Falmouth Campuses. The position requires a motivational and inspiring manager who will support the ongoing development of a modern campus safety and security service. As Duty Manager you will be the cohesive link between operational teams and senior management and will lead in the development and reinforcement of a connected and collaborative team culture. You will be responsible for managing daily operations, ensuring employee productivity, monitoring efficiency of all processes, and creating a positive work environment. Within the Campus Safety and Support Team all staff must be able to provide pastoral care by identifying and resolving student issues with empathy and sensitivity. You will have a genuine compassion towards the mental health challenges facing young people and be committed to providing a positive student experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead the operational delivery of night-time safety and security services across Penryn and Falmouth Campuses.
- Act as the cohesive link between operational teams and senior management; develop and reinforce a connected and collaborative team culture.
- Manage daily operations, ensure employee productivity, monitor efficiency of processes, and create a positive work environment.
- Provide pastoral care to students by identifying and resolving issues with empathy and sensitivity.
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong people management skills; ability to motivate and lead employees, with effective communication and the ability to apply confidentiality and tact.
- Experience managing staff in an operational environment; capable of making independent decisions under pressure.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple workloads and shifting priorities.
- Excellent report writing skills.
- Background in security is not essential as full training will be provided to operate in this environment.
Role Details
- Hours: 42.46 hours per week on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, 12 hours per shift from 19:30 to 07:30.
- Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check required.
- Closing date: Tuesday 23 September 2025.
