We are seeking an experienced and qualified maintenance Electrician to join our dynamic Engineering Maintenance team within the Infrastructure Directorate. This is a critical role supporting the ongoing safe and efficient operation of campus facilities. As an Electrician, you will carry out planned and reactive maintenance across a wide range of electrical systems including power and lighting distribution systems, fire alarm networks, control systems, motors, UPS and more. You’ll play a hands-on role while also collaborating with contractors, trainees, and wider Estates colleagues. You’ll be based across our Penryn and Falmouth campuses, working in both academic and student accommodation buildings. The role includes participation in the on-call rota and occasional support for events or emergency response (e.g. severe weather).

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake preventative and reactive electrical maintenance
  • Diagnose faults and resolve issues efficiently and to a high standard
  • Provide advice and guidance to apprentices and colleagues
  • Liaise with contractors and oversee safe delivery of electrical work
  • Maintain accurate records of works undertaken
  • Ensure all work complies with health and safety legislation and technical standards

You will be a qualified electrician with a recognised Level 3 apprenticeship (or equivalent), and up-to-date IET Regulations. You’ll be confident working independently in a maintenance setting and capable of solving problems on complex systems and installations.

Requirements

  • Recent experience in estates or facilities maintenance
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused mindset
  • A proactive, solution-oriented approach
  • Full UK driving licence

This position is offered on a 37.5 hour a week, full time, permanent contract working across Monday-Friday.
