We are now looking to recruit an Online Tutor to join our BA(Hons) Game Development (Online) team in the Games Academy.

As an Online Tutor on the BA(Hons) Game Development (Online) you will support Understanding Games. Module content centres primarily on the theories and discourse around the mechanics, aesthetics and narrative of games.

It would be a benefit to have experience in Game Studies or similar subjects or have good understanding of Literature & Theory around Games & Culture.

Online Tutors are vital to the success and vibrancy of our online courses. They are a constant presence in the module, the first point of contact for students’ academic enquiries and supporting their learning activities. As the Online Tutor you will deliver live sessions such as webinars, workshops or tutorials each week to a cohort of students.

Around these live sessions you will be responsible for topic discussions, and academic guidance via emails, one to ones and an online learning space. You will work closely with the course leader and module leaders to ensure best possible student experience.

The hours for this role are flexible and spread throughout the week as agreed by your line manager. The flexibility of this role means that you can fit the hours around existing responsibilities. The role compliments individuals who have freelance careers or other teaching commitments.

Each online tutor is responsible for no more than 30 students, making this an extremely rewarding role. The Online Tutor for this module will be allocated 112 hours to support up to 30 students with learning, assessment and feedback, working Study Block 1, September 2026 to January 2027.

About You

Educated to degree level, or having equivalent industry experience, the ideal candidate will have experience in working with groups of students from diverse backgrounds at HE level.

You will have evidence of research and/or teaching in the area of Game Studies or related fields. Previous experience teaching online would also be an advantage. You will be well organised, have excellent communication skills, and the commitment to deliver an excellent online learning experience for students.

We are looking to hear from candidates who also have the following skills/experience:

• An understanding of the principles and practicalities of online learning
• Strong connections with industry and professional practice

• Excellent digital literacy

• Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills

Due to the online nature of this role, it can be worked remotely, however the successful candidate must be based within the UK and be able to start on 14th of September2026.
