Falkirk Council is currently seeking an ambitious and self-motivated individual to take on the role of Support Worker with our team based at Forth Valley Sensory Centre.
Responsibilities
Are you dynamic and want to make a difference in how we deliver public services? If so, this is a fantastic opportunity for an individual to join our team. You will provide support and assistance to people with a sensory loss in a variety of settings and support individuals to achieve person-centred outcomes. The successful candidate will support individuals to renew or establish new social contacts, recreational activities, and everyday experiences in order to achieve desired outcomes.
Requirements
- You will hold a qualification in British Sign Language (BSL) Level 1 or above.
- The post holder is required to hold a recognised Certificate/Diploma in SVQ Health and Social Care or equivalent experience.
Desirable
- British Sign Language (BSL) Level 2.
- Qualifications in Communications & Guiding with deafblind people.
The post holder will also have a positive ‘can do’ attitude, the drive to ‘make it happen’ in a busy working environment delivering high-quality support across our services. You will have sound communication, planning and organisation skills, and must be able to work to deadlines, ensuring an excellent service to both internal and external clients, key professionals, and stakeholders. You will have knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office and data protection legislation requirements with highly developed I.T. skills.
These posts are temporary until January 2027 due to service requirement. If you are the successful candidate, you will be required to gain/maintain PVG scheme membership.
