Join Our Facilities Team – Assistant Cook
Are you enthusiastic about food, teamwork, and helping young people thrive? We’re looking for a reliable and motivated Assistant Cook to join our Facilities (Soft FM) team, supporting the delivery of high-quality school meals across Falkirk Council. In this key role, you’ll assist the Cook in Charge with food preparation, service, and kitchen operations – helping provide safe, nutritious, and appealing meals that support pupils’ health and wellbeing.
What You’ll Do:
- Support the daily preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals
- Assist with stock control, deliveries, and kitchen cleanliness
- Comply with food safety, health and safety, and hygiene regulations
- Contribute to maintaining a clean, efficient and well-organised kitchen environment
- Provide excellent customer service to pupils and staff
What We’re Looking For:
- A positive, flexible attitude and strong team ethic
- Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen hygiene is desirable
- Experience in a similar role is helpful but not essential – full training provided
- Confidence in using kitchen equipment and following food safety procedures
- Ability to work under pressure and manage tasks in a busy school environment

- Location: Beancross Primary School
- Hours: 30 hours per week, full year
- Days: Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 1.30pm (half hour unpaid break)
- Contract: Permanent
