Join Our Facilities Team – Assistant Cook

Are you enthusiastic about food, teamwork, and helping young people thrive? We’re looking for a reliable and motivated Assistant Cook to join our Facilities (Soft FM) team, supporting the delivery of high-quality school meals across Falkirk Council. In this key role, you’ll assist the Cook in Charge with food preparation, service, and kitchen operations – helping provide safe, nutritious, and appealing meals that support pupils’ health and wellbeing.

What You’ll Do:

  • Support the daily preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals
  • Assist with stock control, deliveries, and kitchen cleanliness
  • Comply with food safety, health and safety, and hygiene regulations
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean, efficient and well-organised kitchen environment
  • Provide excellent customer service to pupils and staff

What We’re Looking For:

  • A positive, flexible attitude and strong team ethic
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen hygiene is desirable
  • Experience in a similar role is helpful but not essential – full training provided
  • Confidence in using kitchen equipment and following food safety procedures
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage tasks in a busy school environment

The Role:

  • Location: Grange Primary School
  • Hours: 25 hours per week, term time only
  • Days: Monday to Friday, 8am to 1.30pm
  • Contract: Term Time, Part Time, Permanent
  • Reporting to: Cook in Charge
