We are currently inviting applications for the exciting role of Area Roads Officer within the Roads Service at Falkirk Council. This is a fantastic opportunity to manage road and footway maintenance across a designated geographical area.

As an Area Roads Officer, you’ll be responsible for the planning, coordination, and delivery of all road and footway maintenance activities within your assigned area. This includes responding to emerging issues, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations, and maintaining the highest standards of public service.
Due to the high-profile nature of this service, your work will be subject to regular public scrutiny. This makes the role both challenging and rewarding — your ability to lead flexibly and respond to community needs will help maintain public confidence in our essential services.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A relevant qualification such as an HND in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- Proven experience and in-depth knowledge of all aspects of road maintenance
- A sound knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety legislation, including CDM Regulations
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear and concise reports
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience with Winter Maintenance Emergency Procedures
- Membership of an appropriate professional body
