Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Real-Time Ledger systems to support the implementation of a cloud-native core banking platform. The role will focus on designing, configuring, and validating a real-time general ledger and sub-ledger architecture, ensuring accuracy, scalability, and regulatory compliance within a modern banking ecosystem. The SME will work closely with business stakeholders, product vendors, architects, and implementation teams to ensure a robust event-driven, real-time accounting framework aligned with UK banking standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ledger Design & Architecture
    • Lead the design of real-time ledger architecture (general ledger + sub-ledger integration)
    • Define chart of accounts (CoA) structure aligned with product hierarchies and regulatory needs
    • Establish event-driven accounting models for transactions (payments, loans, deposits, etc.)
    • Ensure high-volume, low-latency ledger processing in cloud environments
  • Cloud Core Banking Implementation
    • Drive ledger-related components in cloud-native core banking platforms (e.g., Thought Machine, Temenos, Mambu, Tuum, Finastra)
    • Configure and validate posting rules, journal entries, and accounting flows
    • Collaborate with platform vendors and SI teams on solution design and delivery
  • Integration & Data Flow
    • Design integration between core banking engine, payments systems (FPS, CHAPS, SEPA, SWIFT), channels and middleware, financial reporting / GL systems
    • Ensure real-time reconciliation and data consistency

Experience Requirements

  • 10-12 years in banking technology or core banking transformation
  • 2-3 end-to-end cloud core banking implementations, specifically involving ledger/accounting modules and real-time transaction processing
  • Experience working with UK or European banks preferred
