Hours of duty: 20 hours per week β Monday β Friday negotiable, between the core hours of 9.00 β 5.00
Rate of pay: Β£13.45 - Β£13.85 per hour - Β£14,026.47 - Β£14,443.61 per annum plus mileage expenses.

About us: Falcon Support Services provides supported accommodation and community projects to those that are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or vulnerable in the community. Our service helps vulnerable people by providing safe and secure accommodation with our staff working alongside clients to help them develop their skills, so they can move away from homelessness to living independently and positively contribute to their community.
Purpose of the job: To provide efficient and effective maintenance support to the organisation across Falcon Support Services. To observe safe working practices in carrying out the required duties and ensure that instructions specified by technical consultants, contractors and manufacturers are adhered to. To ensure the removal and correct disposal of refuse and larger items.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Garden and Property Maintenance
- To maintain the grounds of all properties owned, leased or rented by Falcon Support Services
- To carry out grass and hedge cutting keeping gardens in a safe and useable space for residents.
- To ensure fences and boundaries are well maintained.
- To maintain lighting systems replacing where necessary minor parts such as tubes, bulbs, fuses starters and diffusers, in accordance with safe working practices.
- To arrange to clear blockages, remove foreign matter from sinks, toilets, drains, kitchen grease traps etc. and clean up spillages as required.
- To ensure that gullies, drains etc. are kept free from debris and that the buildings and grounds are litter free.
- To be responsible for ensuring clear and safe pedestrian access to all public accessible buildings particularly in adverse weather conditions (e.g. clearing snow, gritting etc.)
- To dispose of waste materials in a safe, hygienic manner ensuring that it is available for collection as required.
- To undertake porterage tasks as required including setting up and clearing away furniture.
- To undertake handypersons duties as directed by the management team, including:
- Painting and Decorating β as required
- Joinery- First line maintenance of fixtures and fittings, examples: tightening screws on window hinges, maintenance on door handles, minor repairs as a temporary measure after break-ins, vandalism etc.
- Basic plumbing duties
- Internal Glazing β Remedial action after break-ins, for example boarding up of broken windows.
- Repairs- plastering and filling holes.
- Repair/make as new window frames as required.
- Collect and deliver donated furniture as requested.
- Small construction work as agreed with your line manager.
- To monitor stock levels of consumable items such as grit, light bulbs/tubes, locks and arrange to replenish supplies in accordance with current procedures.
- To maintain appropriate records including maintenance jobs, health and safety checks, and fire checks as required.
- To report emergencies in the case of faults with gas, electric and water supply to the relevant Project Manager, or where not immediately available regular contractors, and report minor faults on site to the relevant Project Manager.
- To attend to, where necessary, personnel visiting the site such as contractors.
- To comply with the requirements of Health and Safety, other relevant legislation and Falcon Support Services policies and carry out weekly fire alarm tests and assist with evacuation procedures.
- To understand and comply with Falcon Support Services equal opportunities policy.
- To take responsibility for completing all requirements within timeframe as directed by the Health and Safety Manager and/or Accommodation Manager.
- To ensure that all required checklists are completed for all duties.
- To take responsibility for continuous improvement in service delivery and working practices.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Must be over the age of 18
- Willingness to undergo a satisfactory enhanced DBS check
- Have access to a vehicle for business purposes
- Hold a valid driving licence
- Have business car insurance
- Have tools to complete maintenance works
