To provide senior legal and execution support across Falcon’s rapidly growing business.

MAIN ROLE/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Advising on and managing the execution of transactions with Falcon’s clients which will include: drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts for trade transactions; managing the execution and completion of the above transactions; analysing proposed structures and presenting legal and non‑legal risks to Chief Legal Officer (CLO)/internal stakeholders with alternatives; working with credit risk, operations, compliance and other internal teams to ensure a smooth execution, identify issues, propose solutions and escalate relevant issues to the CLO/risk committee; advising on litigation/recovery matters, including preparing/reviewing legal documentation and coordinating with counsel and the credit risk team; and maintaining standard forms.
  • Assisting Business Development Managers with new product development.
  • Advising on Falcon’s own funding which includes securitisations, MRPAs, asset sales and loan financing.
  • Remaining up to date with legal and regulatory developments affecting the business and working with compliance to implement necessary changes.
  • Delivering training to internal teams on legal developments.
  • Supervising junior members of the team.
  • Leading specific projects as and when they arise and are identified by the CLO.
  • Other corporate commercial advisory work customarily falling within an office of the GC such as tax, employment and reviewing supplier contracts.

KEY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Commercial/international trade contracts experience from private practice ideally combined with some in‑house experience.
  • Trained, qualified and proven track record working as an associate at a top tier practice. 8 PQE or above.
  • Experience in any of the following areas would be advantageous: trade, trade finance, commodities, sale of goods, shipping, warehousing, securitisation, asset sale agreements and risk participation agreements.
  • Experience of leading transactions and maintaining strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and clients across time zones.
  • Able to (and excited by the opportunity to) apply legal knowledge and skills to new areas.
  • Can manage own workload to meet sensitive deadlines and prioritise correctly.
  • Highly motivated; self‑starter.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Commercial, innovative and solutions‑focused.
  • Desire to work in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Lateral thinker.
  • Can succinctly explain complex issues in layman terms.
  • Prepared to weigh risks and present their recommendation which they can defend before senior management.
