Long-established main contractor seeking a strong Senior Design Manager / Design Lead to play a key role in the early stages of several new-build, mixed-use developments in London.
They are introducing new technology and methods across the business, including a significant investment into BIM, and are seeking a Design Manager who can lead from the front on innovation, compliance and coordination. This is a unique opportunity to shape the design process from Gateway 1 through to completion, working closely alongside their Digital Construction Department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading the design process across multiple projects, starting at pre-construction (Gateway 1)
- Driving compliance with the Building Safety Act and ensuring the golden thread of information is maintained throughout each project
- Coordinating with architects, consultants, engineers and subcontractors to ensure design and delivery are fully aligned
- Working closely with the Digital Construction team to implement BIM across all projects
- Managing workflows from the head office during early stages, then transitioning to site as projects progress
- Ensuring that all designs meet regulatory standards, budget constraints and construction timelines
Qualifications & Experience:
- 8+ years of experience as a Design Manager or Senior Design Manager with a main contractor
- Strong knowledge of the Building Safety Act and practical experience maintaining the golden thread
- BIM-literate with a proactive approach to integrating digital construction tools
- Background in architecture highly preferred; design-led mindset essential
- Strong leadership, communication and coordination skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex developments simultaneously
