We are currently searching for a Quantity Surveyor who is interested in being part of a major Ministry of Defence scheme in Reading. This scheme is part of a larger framework spanning across 4 years, with the potential for further extension.
The project consists of a combination of new build and refurbishment schemes, forming part of a wider defence infrastructure programme. The new build elements will include a variety of structures such as office buildings, storage units, and ancillary buildings, constructed using a mix of steel frame and reinforced concrete (RC) frame methods. Refurbishment works will involve upgrades to existing facilities, including internal reconfigurations, M&E enhancements, and fabric repairs, all delivered within live operational environments.
The Role:
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost reporting in line with MoD requirements.
- Administer NEC/JCT contracts, ensuring compliance with security and procedural standards.
- Lead procurement of subcontractors and suppliers, including tendering and negotiation.
- Evaluate and process subcontractor applications and payments.
- Handle change control, compensation events, and variations.
- Prepare and agree interim valuations and final accounts.
- Ensure adherence to MoD-specific commercial, security, and reporting protocols.
- Support project risk management through cost planning and commercial advice.
Required:
- Experience working for a Quantity Surveyor for a main contractor would be preferred but applicants from a subcontractor background will not be discounted.
- Strong knowledge of NEC contracts.
- Strong attention to detail and process-oriented.
- Strong reporting and negotiation skills for clients, subcontractors, and MoD stakeholders
Security Clearance Requirement:
Due to the nature of the work and associated security clearance requirements, this role is open only to candidates holding British nationality. Successful applicants will have to undergo security vetting.
