Falcon Green is partnering with a leading international principal contractor to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their expanding commercial team, supporting the delivery of a major data centre development in Northumberland.
Reporting directly to the Commercial Lead, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of a large-scale, mission-critical project, working closely with the project delivery, engineering, and supply chain teams.
The data centre sector continues to be one of the fastest-growing areas within construction, driven by increasing demand for digital infrastructure and high-availability facilities.
This opportunity provides an excellent platform for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to work on a technically complex project, managing significant M&E packages and contributing to the successful delivery of a world-class data centre campus.
The contractor has secured a strong pipeline of data centre and critical infrastructure projects across the UK, working with some of the industry’s most recognised clients.
An experienced project and commercial team is already established, providing the support and expertise required to deliver projects safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing all commercial and quantity surveying activities across the data centre project.
- Preparing weekly, monthly, and quarterly commercial reports.
- Managing project budgets, cost forecasting, valuations, and commercial controls.
- Leading cost management activities across complex M&E and construction packages.
- Preparing tenders, managing procurement processes, and negotiating with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Managing subcontractor accounts, variations, change control, and final account agreements.
- Working closely with project management, engineering, design, commissioning, and technical teams.
- Supporting procurement and delivery of critical infrastructure packages, including electrical and mechanical systems.
- Attending project, commercial, and client meetings.
- Ensuring commercial performance aligns with programme, quality, and operational requirements.
Requirements
- 5+ years’ experience in a Quantity Surveying role, ideally within major construction, M&E, or mission-critical projects.
- Strong understanding of subcontract procurement, cost control, change management, and commercial reporting.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with clients, contractors, consultants, design teams, and supply chain partners.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams within a fast-paced project environment.
- Proven stability and longevity within previous roles.
