Senior Planner in Solihull

A growing modular construction business is looking for an experienced Senior Planner to join the team and take ownership of the planning function across the business. This is a key position, with the successful candidate initially acting as the sole planner within the organisation, working closely with the pre-construction, commercial, design and project delivery teams.

The Role

As Senior Planner, you will be responsible for planning activities across the full project lifecycle, from tendering and pre-construction through to live project delivery and completion. You will need strong experience working within NEC contracts, alongside experience with JCT contracts, and be confident developing and managing programmes in a fast-paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead planning activities from tender and bid stage through to project completion
• Develop detailed tender programmes, construction methodologies and sequencing
• Provide planning input throughout the pre-construction phase
• Develop and maintain robust contract programmes
• Manage baseline programmes, progress updates, forecasting and recovery programmes
• Work closely with Project Managers, Commercial Managers, Design Managers and site teams
• Identify programme risks, delays, opportunities and key project milestones
• Provide planning support in NEC contract environments, including programme submissions and compensation events
• Work with JCT contracts, understanding the relevant programme and contractual requirements
• Assist with delay analysis, extensions of time, variations and change
• Ensure programmes reflect the specific sequencing and requirements of modular/off-site construction
• Establish and improve planning processes, procedures and reporting systems
• As the business grows, support the recruitment, development and management of additional planners

About You

We are looking for an experienced construction planner who is confident working autonomously and taking ownership of the planning function. You will ideally have:

• Proven experience as a Senior Planner, Project Planner or Planning Manager
• Strong experience working with NEC contracts, particularly NEC3 and/or NEC4
• Good experience working with JCT contracts
• Experience producing both tender and contract programmes
• Previous involvement in pre-construction planning
• Experience integrating design, procurement, manufacturing and construction programmes
• Experience with programme monitoring, reporting, forecasting and delay analysis
• The ability to work independently while working collaboratively with wider project teams
• A proactive approach and the confidence to establish and improve planning processes
• Experience within modular construction, off-site manufacturing, MMC or a similar environment would be highly advantageous
