We are seeking an experienced Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Facilities Maintenance Engineer to join our facilities team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planned and reactive maintenance of building services, plant, equipment and associated infrastructure, ensuring systems remain safe, reliable, compliant and operational. The role will involve a combination of mechanical and electrical maintenance, fault finding, preventative maintenance, contractor management and general facilities support.
Key Responsibilities
- Mechanical Maintenance
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on mechanical building services.
- Maintain and inspect HVAC systems, pumps, motors, AHUs, FCUs, boilers, chillers and associated equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs where competent to do so.
- Monitor heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and water systems.
- Complete routine inspections and identify potential equipment failures or maintenance requirements.
- Assist with energy-efficiency initiatives and optimisation of mechanical systems.
- Electrical Maintenance
- Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance within the limits of relevant qualifications and authorisations.
- Diagnose electrical faults and undertake repairs and replacements where appropriately qualified.
- Maintain lighting, emergency lighting, small power, distribution equipment, motors and associated electrical systems.
- Carry out routine inspections and testing in accordance with company procedures.
- Respond to electrical breakdowns and building-services faults promptly.
- Support statutory inspection and testing programmes.
- Facilities Management
- Complete scheduled PPM tasks and accurately record all maintenance activities.
- Respond to reactive maintenance requests and minimise disruption to building occupants.
- Use a CAFM/helpdesk system to receive, update and close maintenance tasks.
- Liaise with building users, facilities management teams and contractors.
- Assist with building fabric, general maintenance and facilities-related tasks as required.
- Support the management of specialist contractors and verify completed works.
- Ensure plant rooms, workshops and maintenance areas are kept clean, safe and organised.
