A leading engineering and construction contractor is seeking an experienced Regional Commissioning Lead to lead the commissioning function across a portfolio of large-scale, mission-critical projects throughout Ireland and Europe.

This is a senior leadership role, responsible for driving commissioning strategy, ensuring consistent standards across multiple projects, supporting project delivery teams, and developing high-performing commissioning teams.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering complex data centre and critical infrastructure projects for international clients.

Reporting to senior leadership, you will oversee all commissioning activities across your business unit, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with company standards.

This role can be based in Ireland or Mainland Europe.

Key responsibilities include

  • Leading and supporting commissioning teams across multiple live projects.
  • Developing and implementing commissioning strategies, processes and best practices.
  • Monitoring project performance through regular audits, KPI reporting and programme reviews.
  • Supporting tender submissions by providing commissioning programmes, resource strategies and technical input.
  • Working closely with Project Directors, Commercial, Design and Operations teams to ensure commissioning activities are fully integrated into project delivery.
  • Reviewing commissioning plans, methodologies and project documentation to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Managing commissioning resources across multiple projects, including recruitment, onboarding and performance management.
  • Supporting commissioning managers throughout the project lifecycle, from pre-construction through to final handover.
  • Driving continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and implementing best practice across the business.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and equipment vendors.
  • Regularly visiting project sites across Ireland and mainland Europe to provide leadership and technical support.

About You

  • A minimum of 10 years' experience working on mission-critical, data centre or critical infrastructure projects.
  • At least 5 years' experience leading commissioning activities on major construction projects.
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical and control systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience developing commissioning programmes, strategies and project reporting.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously.
  • A proactive approach with a strong focus on safety, quality and project delivery.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within hyperscale data centre or mission-critical environments.
  • Professional Project Management qualification (PMP or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of commissioning standards such as ASHRAE, NETA or similar.
  • Experience with digital commissioning platforms and project reporting tools.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, commissioning processes and integrated project delivery.
