An industry leading main contractor in the industrial and residential sector is seeking a Building Services professional to lead the successful delivery of MEP services during the pre-construction phase.
As a Building Services Manager you will oversee the selection of subcontractors, act as the MEP expert across multiple projects, and provide technical guidance while identifying risks early. Working closely with site teams and senior stakeholders, you will drive improvements in pre-construction processes and ensure projects are delivered efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate M&E design information to support construction programmes.
- Review M&E concept designs and Stage 4 and 5 subcontractor designs.
- Ensure designers identify hazards and manage health and safety risks.
- Undertake detailed design gap analysis at tender stage.
- Support estimating teams by highlighting design shortfalls.
- Identify value engineering opportunities for both the business and the client.
- Manage and coordinate statutory utility providers.
- Ensure all statutory, regulatory, client, and internal approvals are in place.
- Review design, construction, and commissioning programmes.
- Produce weekly building services status reports.
- Support the appointment of M&E consultants and design-and-build subcontractors.
- Control costs and ensure designs remain within budget.
- Validate M&E designs on project completion.
- Maintain cost, installation, testing, and commissioning records.
- Enforce compliance with company safety management systems on site.
- Attend project meetings and contribute to project reporting.
- Monitor performance and support continuous improvement.
- Inspect M&E works and produce technical reports.
- Undertake snagging of M&E installations.
- Comply with quality, environmental, and safety management systems.
- Carry out any other duties aligned with the role.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant industry experience.
- Membership of a professional body (e.g. CIBSE, ASHRAE, IET).
- Working towards MCIOB or CIBSE accreditation.
- Strong project planning and budget management skills.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
